HELP WANTED - Volunteers for Town Committee’s and Commissions
Posted May 28th, 2009: APPPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR PRESTON PUBLIC LIBRARY TRUSTEE POSITIONS
The Preston Public Library is currently accepting applications for a vacancy on the Town’s Library Board of Trustees, which administrates the Preston Public Library. Interested parties are encouraged to send a letter of interest to the library at 389 Route 2, Preston, 06365 or email: library@prestonlibray.org. Applicants should include a short list of attributes that they believe prepares them to serve as a trustee.
Candidates for the Trustee position will be interviewed and selected by the Preston Library Board of Trustees. The Library Board meets once a month on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Preston Public Library.
The 9 board members are charged with setting library policies, overseeing the expenditure of funds, and providing an essential link between the library and the community it serves. Key qualifications include a genuine interest in library services and a willingness to be an advocate for this unique institution. The board holds monthly evening meetings; members are also expected to represent the library at other meetings and events at various times during the year.

The Building and Facilities Committee is looking for a new member. The committee advises the Board of Selectmen as requested on Town owned buildings and facilities and assists in assessing related costs. Familiarity and knowledge of the trades is of interest but not required. Preston Housing Authority: Currently there is a vacancy on the Preston Housing Authority. We are looking for a volunteer from Preston who would be interested in becoming a member. Regular meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.; special meetings are held when necessary. The members of the Housing Authority oversee the operation and maintenance of the onsite facilities bearing in mind that Connecticut Statues are met in all cases.
