What do kids learn in school these days? You’ll be amazed when you see that second graders create powerpoint presentations, kindergarten students write books, and the first grade is quite knowledgeable about space. All of this and much more will be on display during Preston Parks and Recreation’s first annual Celebration of Learning. Join us at Preston Veterans Memorial School on Friday May 16th from 5 to 8 p.m. to view this eclectic display of school projects.
Grades Pre-K through 5 have submitted poetry, storybooks, powerpoint presentations, space posters, slide shows, monster stories, bear drawings, videos and an entire Indian Village. Finger painted fish, contributed by children attending Preston Public Library’s story hour, add a huge splash of color to this event. Does your child have something exciting to share? Individual show entries will be accepted at PVMS, Preston Public Library and Parks and Recreation through Wednesday, May 14th.
Additional support from Preston Booster Club, PVMS PTO, Preston Public Library, Preston Youth Services and Preston Historical Society make this event an exciting community gathering. Free pizza and cold drinks, valuable door prizes, “Bucks for Books” fundraiser, free face painting, a bit of Preston history and a surprise guest will entertain children and adults alike.
A special preview session for our Senior Citizens will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16th with light refreshments and live entertainment. Please call the recreation office at 889-2482 ext 113 for more information or to assist with this community event.
