Website Notes:
Linked to this website is our Preston Talks Back Weblog. This weblog is the place where you can write your “Letter To The Editor” or comment on any of the many topics that have been posted. Communications are better served up and down, so give it a try!
Clear your cache often!: Since we update this website often, you want to be able to see the current version, and not the temporary files that will load from your cache if you don’t clear it often. Click here for a link to the how and why of clearing your cache (this applies to Internet Explorer)...if you’re using Firefox or other browsers you probably know how, or Email me and I’ll help.
On every page of the site, there is a “Search This Site” box, which also includes a site map. Type in any word of interest and you’ll be amazed at the results that appear. You’ll find yourself following subject threads and learning a lot about the workings of our town government.
Just for fun, we’ve added a Cofi Jukebox link at the bottom of every page. This link enables you to pick out the music of your choice and “stream” it in the background while you browse our site. Click on a song in the year of your choice and the jukebox will play all the songs in that year in the background. Use your browser back button to return to the Preston Website page you were on when you launched the Jukebox. Try it and you’ll love it!
On our “Links-Forms” page we have included links to many of Preston’s organizations. If you have a favorite local link that we’ve missed send it to me and we’ll add it to the list. Links are provided as a service to our readers, and commercial listings will be added on request for Preston organizations.
As a general rule, this website is updated daily. Minutes and Agenda’s are posted to the Minutes page as they are received, and we also try to include the Agenda’s to the on-line calendar.
Major additions are usually listed on the “Current News” page. and the Recent Updates and Town Happenings section on our Home page with the latest news updates listed newest to oldest by date. This page also includes RSS news feeds from the Norwich Bulletin, the New London Day, the Hartford Courant and the New York Times. We’ve also added RSS Feeds from the Boston Globe and the NYT on baseball and football.
We are receptive to suggestions for additions and changes to the site. Send your suggestions to me at r.payette@snet.net.
