Posted November 13, 2009: Connecticut DEP announces new on-line tools To help municipalities, schools & residences increase recycling.


Hours: Friday and Saturday 8:00 - 4:30

The town transfer station is located on Ross Road. All vehicles entering the facility must display a Transfer Station Sticker, there are no exceptions. The stickers are available from employees at the Transfer Station. Be prepared to show the vehicle registration with a Preston address in order to receive the sticker.

The town accepts for disposal:

All items must be separated.

Household trash (bagged)

Bulky waste (all bulky waste is weighed & a fee charged for disposal)

Lightbulbs, Fluorescent Bulbs (special container)*

Corrugated cardboard (flattened, cleaned)

Mirrors, Plate Glass (regular trash)

Bottles, cans, aluminum foil, milk and water plastic jugs (clean)

Hazardous Chemicals (watch for hazardous collection day)

Colored plastic jugs, etc (HDPE #1 & #2) (clean)

Regular household batteries can be recycled at the library.

Engine drain oil (see attendant for disposal)

Parks & Recreation has a box for cell phones and toner cartridges at the library.

Batteries (see attendant for disposal)

The town does not accept leaves or brush per Town Ordinance.

Scrap metal (see attendant for disposal)

 

Anti-freeze (see attendant for disposal)
