The Board of Selectmen consists of three Selectmen. The First Selectman is the chief executive officer and ex-officio member of town boards, commissions and committees. The Second and Third Selectmen serve in an advisory capacity to the First Selectman, who assigns to them tasks and duties as required.
The duties of the Board of Selectmen may be read in Chapter 91 of the Connecticut State Statutes . In addition, the CT State Statutes dictate that there cannot be more than two Selectman of the same political party.
The Board of Selectmen hold meetings each Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the upper level conference room of the Town Hall. Notice of each meeting is filed with the Preston Town Clerk at minimum 24 hours prior to the meeting. Members of the public are welcomed to attend and to participate during a Public Comment period.
