Summer Reading Requirements
Students entering PVMS in the fall of 2021 should return to school having read for at least 4 hours and return prepared to discuss and/or write about their reading. For each 20 minute block of time that a student reads, the student should color in one circle on their reading journal. Students may choose reading material at their reading level to read.
Students who return their reading journal in the fall of 2020 with 12 circles colored (4 hours) will be awarded 1 paw card.
Students who return their reading journal in the fall of 2020 with 18 circles colored (6 hours) will be awarded 2 paw cards.
Students who return their reading journal in the fall of 2020 with 24 circles colored (8 hours) will be awarded 3 paw cards.
Students have been given summer reading logs. They can color a circle for every time they read for 20 minutes. If they need a new form, they can create one of their own to record their summer reading.
Students entering Preston Plains Middle School in September 2021 are required to read for at least four hours. As part of their four hours, they should read one of the 2022 Nutmeg Nominee books during that time.
Students have been given a reading log which they should use to record their reading time. Each time they read for 20 minutes, they should color in one circle on the log and return it to school in the fall. If something happens to the log, they can create their own recording sheet.
