Mission Statement

To administer and enforce the Zoning Regulations of Preston, Connecticut, to provide clear and accurate information about Zoning Regulations to residents and businesses, investigate complaints, and enforcing compliance, in a professional, fair, and consistent application of the Preston Zoning Regulations.

Responsibilities

The Zoning Enforcement Officer is responsible for the following:

1. Zoning Permit Review - Review of permits for all types of construction including new dwellings, additions, and buildings outside of the footprint of the original house, including the final inspection for the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy. 

2. Enforcement of Regulations - Ensuring compliance with Zoning Regulations through investigation and necessary Violation Orders and /or Cease and Desist Orders.

3. To work with other departments, Boards, and Commissions responsible for any aspect of Land Use.

4. The Zoning Enforcement Officer also manages the activities of the Zoning Board of Appeals.
