The Board of Selectmen consists of three Selectmen. The First Selectman is the chief executive officer and ex-officio member of town boards, commissions and committees. The Second and Third Selectmen serve in an advisory capacity to the First Selectman, who assigns to them tasks and duties as required.
The duties of the Board of Selectmen may be read in Chapter 91 of the Connecticut State Statutes. In addition, the CT State Statutes dictate that there cannot be more than two Selectman of the same political party.
Notice of each meeting is filed with the Preston Town Clerk at minimum 24 hours prior to the meeting. Members of the public are welcomed to attend and to participate during a Public Comment period.
The mission of the Selectmen’s Office is to serve and assist the residents of Preston in an efficient and courteous manner. The Office responds to citizen inquiries, including information requests, suggestions, complaints and requests for action in all areas of municipal government.
